Manchester United player ratings as Cristiano Ronaldo great and David de Gea good vs Norwich

David de Gea

Denied Teemu Pukki in a one-on-one at 0-0 that was pivotal and made another fine save when Milot Rashica went for goal. 7

Diogo Dalot

Eager but not strong enough in the challenge for Kieran Dowell's goal. Made a couple of key blocks in the second-half at 2-2 and 3-2. 6

Victor Lindelof

Made a crucial intervention late in the first-half only to be let down by teammates soon after when Norwich scored and he played Pukki onside. 5

Harry Maguire

Lacked authority in a porous defence again as Norwich created good chances in both halves and United's defence was all over the place. 5

Alex Telles

Assisted Cristiano Ronaldo direct from a corner but switched off to leave Dowell unmarked and was jogging in the second-half. An embarrassment. 4

Paul Pogba

With the sun out and the league's worst team in town, Pogba thrived in the first-half but when the going got tough he went cold. Cheered off, booed off and told to 'f--k off'. 4

Jesse Lingard

Bright as an attacking midfielder in a three, a role he has not played in enough for United. A goal threat at times yet oddly withdrawn. 7

Bruno Fernandes

A familiar performance of commitment but little quality and he was lucky not to come off when Lingard did. Got worse since his contract renewal. 4

Anthony Elanga

Seized on Ben Gibson's dithering defending to tee up Ronaldo for the first goal and offered so much energy he switched to right-back. 6

Jadon Sancho

Had enough of the ball but did very little with it despite returning to his favoured left-hand side role. Switched to the right to accommodate Marcus Rashford. 5

Cristiano Ronaldo

Scored clinically twice in the first-half to take his club tally for the season to 20. Then claimed another hat-trick with a free-kick. 9

Subs

Nemanja Matic

Had another positive impact off the bench. 7

Juan Mata

Had a shot blocked. 6

Marcus Rashford

Had few opportunities. 5

Manager

The front six was too loose and that wasn't a problem with United winning. Rangnick reacted well to introduce Matic and hook Pogba. 6
