Manchester United pair Casemiro and Antony called up to Brazil squad but Fred left out

Brazil have called up Manchester United pair Casemiro and Antony to their squad for the friendly with Morocco later this month but several Premier League stars have been left out.

Old Trafford midfielder Fred is among them with the 29-year-old omitted. Liverpool trio Alisson, Fabinho and Roberto Firmino, Arsenal pair Gabriel and Gabriel Martinelli and Newcastle star Bruno Guimaraes are also missing.

Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar is injured but Barcelona winger Raphinha is also absent, with stand-in manager Ramon Menezes, Brazil's Under-20s boss, placing an emphasis on youth. A host of uncapped players have been called up, including Chelsea starlet Andrey Santos.

Brazil suffered a surprise World Cup exit to Croatia at the quarter-final stage, which cost coach Tite his job as manager. They face Morocco, semi-finalists in Qatar, on March 25 in a friendly fixture.

Antony and Casemiro will expect to play a part for the national team given their form for United. The latter has been a revelation in midfield since signing from Real Madrid in the summer while Antony has established himself in Erik ten Hag's first-choice XI. Brazil don't begin their qualifying campaign for the 2026 World Cup until later in the year and are playing just one friendly during the March international break.
