Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba's move to Man City 'unlikely' and other rumours

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba's reported move to Manchester City has been dubbed "unlikely". The Frenchman will be available on a free transfer in the summer as his second stint at Old Trafford comes to an end. Real Madrid, PSG and a return to Juventus could be on the cards with the European trio linked.

MEN Sport understands Pogba is merely one possible central midfield target that Guardiola and City could pursue this summer. The 29-year-old has reportedly been offered to United's rivals ahead of his departure.

However, David Ornstein, speaking to NBC Sports, has said it is unlikely, but not out of the question. He said: "The possibility of him staying in England has been mooted for a while but then boom it came Manchester City had been offered the chance to sign him and would be interested in doing so but I must tell you and sorry to spoil the party, it is only going to be done on Manchester City's terms.

"I'm not sure whether their offer in terms of salary and commissions around the deal will be suitable for Pogba and his camp, compared to the offers that he's likely to get from elsewhere. My information at this time in point that this deal is unlikely to happen, never say never let's see what the coming days bring but it's more probable that Paul Pogba goes overseas."

Meanwhile, the Reds face competition from Bayern Munich in the pursuit of RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer. Julian Nagelsmann's side are reportedly preparing a bid of €18-€20m (£15-17m), via Fabrizio Romano.

The Reds are eager to bolster their midfield ranks. Current boss Ralf Rangnick is set to become the Austria national team manager, who Laimer lines up for, and has close ties with Die Roten Bullen hence the recent links with the 24-year-old's contract up at the end of next season.
