Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has admitted that he 'feels sorry' for Thomas Tuchel after the German was sacked by Chelsea on Wednesday following the London club's underwhelming start to the season.
The former Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain boss was dismissed after winning three trophies in 20 months. The Blues, who are sixth in the Premier League after three wins, one draw and two defeats, lost 1-0 to Dinamo Zagreb in their first Champions League game of the season on Tuesday night.
Tuchel - who replaced Frank Lampard as Chelsea manager in January 2021 - guided the club to their second Champions League title just four months later, and went on to add the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup later that year.

United boss Ten Hag faced the media earlier today (Wednesday) and was asked about Chelsea's decision to dismiss the German coach. Speaking at his press conference ahead of his side’s Europa League clash with Real Sociedad, the Dutchman admitted he feels sympathy for his managerial counterpart, but would not be pressed on the matter.
"I feel sorry, but there is nothing I can say," said the 52-year-old.
"It's Chelsea, not Man United. It's early in the season, yes."
The Reds face off against the LaLiga outfit on Thursday night, hoping to make a positive start to their European campaign. United are expected to make a number of changes after four successive victories, with Ten Hag keen to utilise his squad.
Speaking on Europa League rotation, the United manager said: "We have to win every game. We want to win every tournament, so we take everything seriously.
"We not only have a team, we have a squad, but we have to win every game and that is the mentality Manchester United needs."
