Manchester United have submitted an offer of £50m for Ajax and Brazil forward Anthony, who has been heavily linked with a switch to Liverpool, according to reports.
New Red Devils manager Erik Ten Hag is said to be keen on reuniting with the Brazilian this summer as he looks to overhaul the Manchester United squad he has inherited since taking over the Old Trafford reins this summer.
The 52-year-old has already begun that process with the additions of Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez and Tyrell Malacia's since arriving at the end of May.

And according to Goal.com, United have made an offer in the region of £50m for the 22-year-old but the Eredivisie champions are said to desire a fee closer to £66m if they are to depart with Anthony. However, the Red Devils are "trying to advance in the negotiations".
Jurgen Klopp's side, themselves, had been linked with a move for the winger earlier summer, with Football Insider sources claiming that although there had been no formal contact between Anfield officials and Ajax he was a player who featured on the Reds' list of attacking targets.
Given his profile, it's no surprise to see the forward linked with a move to Anfield as he boasts an impressive range of versatility, having played on the left, right and even as a shadow striker under the tutelage of his former manager Ten Hag. However, prominently deployed on the left-hand side of the attack, Anthony, if he was to move to Anfield, would provide the Reds with strong competition for Mohamed Salah.
The Egyptian, who recently penned a new three-year contract at Anfield, is near enough an ever-present for Klopp's side having racked up 150 games in the Reds' last three campaigns. Yes, a big part of this is because of how important he is to the fluidity and attacking prowess of Klopp's system, but during his time on Merseyside Liverpool have never had a constant alternative on the right-hand side of attack to Salah.
Last season, following the addition of Luis Diaz from Porto, Diogo Jota was positioned on the right-hand side of the attack at times, but Liverpool's lack of depth on that side of their forward trio was highlighted by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlian being asked to fill the 30-year-old's void during his time away during this year's Africa Cup of Nations.
Despite impressing during that time as he fired goals in consecutive games against Brentford and Crystal Palace, Oxlade-Chamberlain isn't able to replicate the same attacking skill-set that Salah boasts.
Anthony, however, appears to be cut from a similar cloth to Salah given that they both operate on the right-hand side and gain plenty of joy from cutting inside on their right foot after dazzling defenders with their silky close control.
The Brazilian notched eight goals and a further four assists during his 23 league appearances for Ajax last terming, numbers that would certainly help the Reds over the course of the campaign as they look to fill the void of Sadio Mane and simultaneously not overexert Salah - who appeared to be longing for a break at times during the second half of last campaign.
While it appears that United, led by Ten Hag, are favourites to land the 22-year-old prodigy this summer, he would be a fine addition if Klopp decided to dip into the transfer market between now and the end of August.
