Manchester United fans raise Cristiano Ronaldo point after Lionel Messi's PSG apology

Manchester United fans believe Lionel Messi has received preferential treatment compared to Cristiano Ronaldo following his interview with Piers Morgan.

On Monday, PSG were set to have a day off to recover from their match with Lorient the previous day. However, after they lost 3-1, that was called off and players were expected to be in training.

Messi was not present at the training ground though. Instead, the Argentine World Cup winner was in Saudi Arabia for a planned trip as part of a deal with the country's tourism board.

This led to the 35-year-old landing in hot water with his club who have suspended him for two weeks. Today, Messi released an apology video on his Instagram story which explained his decision to go to the Middle East.

"I thought we were going to have a day off after the game as always," he told his social media followers. "I had this trip organised and I couldn't cancel it.

"I had already canceled it before. I apologise to my teammates and I'm waiting for what the club wants to do with me."

Many supporters of Messi have rushed to his defence and have praised him for apologising to fans for his actions. But those of a United persuasion sense hypocrisy in their sympathy towards the winger.

They cite how Ronaldo was treated after he conducted an interview with Piers Morgan on TalkTV. During the conversation, the 38-year-old took aim at United, Erik ten Hag and the Glazers.

Shortly after the full interview aired, the Reds and Ronaldo agreed to part company for good. United fans now believe Ronaldo was dealt with harshly in comparison to Messi.

Here is what the fans had to say on Twitter.
