Manchester United fans ambush Frenkie de Jong with same transfer message

Manchester United supporters have ambushed Frenkie de Jong on his Instagram profile urging him to sign on the dotted line. De Jong, 25, has been identified as the priority target for United this summer and talks with Barcelona over his signature remain ongoing.

Having missed out on a top-level central midfielder last summer, United want to make at least one signing in that area and De Jong is well-known to Erik ten Hag from their time together at Ajax. It was under the United manager that the Netherlands international first burst on to the European stage.

De Jong signed for Barcelona three years ago and would cost United around £70million. Other firm targets to join him include Jurrien Timber, Christian Eriksen and Antony, while Ten Hag will also recruit a new back-up goalkeeper to offset Dean Henderson leaving on loan.
