Manchester United: Edin Terzic 'emerges as contender' to replace Erik ten Hag

Manchester United are reportedly considering former Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic to replace under-fire Erik ten Hag.

United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe spent seven hours in talks with the club’s executive committee members in London last week.

Ten Hag is under pressure following United’s worst ever start to a Premier League season leaving them 14th in the table.

And, according to The Sun, Terzic has emerged as a shock name on the club’s shortlist to replace Ten Hag.

Terzic led Dortmund to the Champions League Final last season, which they lost 2-0 to Real Madrid, before resigning in June.

The 41-year-old has had two spells at the German club, missing out on the Bundesliga title in the 2022-23 season to Bayern Munich on goal difference.

Terzic spent his playing career as a forward in the lower leagues of German football, before working as a scout and assistant coach in the youth academy at Dortmund under manager Jurgen Klopp.

He also served as an assistant coach to Slaven Bilic at Besiktas and West Ham and did his coaching badges in England.

Terzic reportedly became friends with Graham Potter in graduating from the FA’s course in 2018, alongside former United players Nicky Butt and Nemanja Vidic.

Thomas Tuchel is also being considered by the Red Devils hierachy, while Ten Hag’s assistant Ruud van Nistelrooy is another option.

The likes of Gareth Southgate, Potter, Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna are also in the running.
