Manchester United are disappointed with comments made by Cristiano Ronaldo after he criticised the club's understanding of his absence in pre-season during the summer.
Ronaldo, 37, was not included in United's squad for their pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia due to personal reasons, which he has since revealed related to the health of his daughter, Bella.
United sources say Ronaldo's camp was grateful at the time for the way in which the club, in particular chief executive Richard Arnold, handled the matter, while Erik ten Hag publicly reiterated that the forward remained a key part of his plans going forward.
