The Manchester Marathon will see tens of thousands of runners take the streets this Sunday, April 3. The popular event will see participants run past some of Manchester's most iconic locations such as the Old Trafford stadium.
Last year, the event raised £7.4 million and saw around 40,000 runners come together to run for a variety of good causes. Due to the sheer size of the event, many roads across the city will be closed to allow the runners to safely move through the 23-mile stretch.
Commuters in Manchester on the day of the marathon should expect many bus services to have their route diverted as a result of the closures while those travelling in their own vehicle should expect the roads to be extremely busy while the closures remain in effect.
