Man City treble events DELAYED due to 'adverse weather' as heavens open in city centre

Fans heading into city centre this evening for the Manchester City treble parade have been warned of delays.

The team are set to make for the streets of Manchester this evening to celebrate their remarkable triumph after winning the Champions League final in Istanbul this weekend.

Celebrations will consist of a bus parade starting at Beetham Tower on Deansgate, which will make it's way as far as Marks and Spencer before moving onto Cross Street.

The bus is set to weave onto Nicholas Street where the parade finishes, with players expected to arrive on stage before the event finishes.

But fans heading into the city centre have been warned that access to the stage has been delayed due to 'adverse weather conditions.' It comes after the heavens opened for a short period of time.

Much of the region has been basking in temperatures of up to 30C today (Monday), but a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms is in place across much of Manchester until 9pm tonight.

Gates were supposed to open at 5pm but it has been delayed due to 'reports of adverse weather conditions and lightning storms,' City have announced.

According to the Manchester City website, gates for the show stage will no longer open at 5pm with access delayed until 7pm. The show had been due to start at 5.30pm.

The trophy parade itself is still set to depart from Deansgate at 6.30pm.

In a statement, they said: "Trophy Parade update: Access to stage show site delayed due to reports of adverse weather conditions and lightning storms.

"This decision has been taken in the interests of safety by Manchester City Council in conjunction with the Club and other local stakeholders, who have consulted with meteorologists and the Met Office."

This is a breaking story and will be updated.
