Man wins £1,000 on 40/1 Premier League bet but bookies refuse to pay out for 'mistake'

A grandfather missed out on £1,000 after a high street bookmaker refused to pay out on a 40/1 Premier League bet.

Phil Worthington, a retired electrician, put £25 on Manchester City, Liverpool, and Chelsea to finish in the top three and Norwich, Burnley, and Watford to be relegated.

Hoe placed the bet in January and Newcastle United were bottom of the division.
