A man who punched his mother as she was driving a car has been jailed for six months.
Emmet Doherty launched the attack in North Belfast on Wednesday after a request for cash was refused. The 33-year-old, of Belmore Way in the city, admitted common assault and threats to damage property.
Belfast Magistrates’ Court heard Doherty approached his mother when she left her home in the Ardoyne area to collect a food order. Prosecutors said he asked her for £40 but was refused amid concerns about how he had spent £20 already provided earlier that day.
