A man who took his uncle to the post office to collect his pension before it was revealed that he was dead has insisted that he wasn't trying to rob him.
After the incident, in which Declan Haughney accompanied 66-year-old Peader Doyle to the local post office five minutes from the latter's home, 40-year-old Declan says he's eing accused of dragging his dead uncle into a post office to rob his pension – because he previously stole from his aunt.
Declan and another man brought Peader from his home on Pollerton Road, Carlow, Co Carlow, to Hoseys Post Office, to collect his pension last Friday (January 21) morning.
