A 35-year-old man who allegedly broke into a home in Ainslie in Canberra's north and assaulted two women living there has faced the ACT Magistrates Court this morning.
James March was extradited from Sydney to face charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, unlawfully confining a person and threatening a participant in a criminal investigation.
Police allege he broke into the home and woke a woman sleeping in her bedroom, before assaulting her. He then allegedly assaulted another woman who entered the room.
Police said Mr March then forced both women to shower and wipe down surfaces to conceal evidence.
As he was charged, the court also heard that Mr March allegedly threatened to harm the women if they went to police.
Mr March did not enter any pleas and did not apply for bail.
He appeared via video link from within police custody and did not have legal representation.
The case is expected to return to court in June.
