Manchester United wonderkid Alejandro Garnacho enhanced his reputation – and the comparisons with Cristiano Ronaldo – further by scoring another brilliant goal on Wednesday night.
Garnacho has been turning heads with his performances for United’s under-18 side this season and he took things to a new level this week.
United’s youngsters beat Everton 4-1 at Old Trafford on Wednesday night in the FA Youth Cup and there was little doubt who the star of the show was.
Garnacho was signed from Atletico Madrid in September 2020, with United fending off interest from Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.
His stunning goal against Everton showed just why the 17-year-old Spaniard is so highly regarded in the United academy.
United held a 3-1 lead and were defending a corner in the 89th minute when Garnacho decided to take matters into his own hands.
Latching onto a near-post clearance, he gathered the ball in his own half, showed his electric pace by sprinting past an Everton defender and down the pitch before keeping his composure to finish calmly into the bottom corner.
Garnacho’s idol is Ronaldo and he paid tribute to the United legend by whipping off his shirt and performing the 37-year-old’s trademark “Siiuuuu” celebration.
He wasn’t shy to talk about his goal, either, adding more on Instagram after the match.
“See you in the next f****ing Round Siuuuuuuu,” he wrote to his 37,000 followers.
According to Transfermarkt, Garnacho now has seven goals and four assists in 21 appearances across all competitions for United’s youth sides.
