Manchester United will face Arsenal in a pre-season friendly in New York this summer.
The two teams will go head-to-head in America for the first time on July 22 at MetLife Stadium in the Red Devils' opening game on their tour of the United States. Erik ten Hag's men will spend three days in the Big Apple, before moving onto San Diego to face League Two newcomers Wrexham in their second match.
United haven't played in New York for 12 years but will make their return to the city to face one of Europe's most promising sides this season. Arsenal may miss out on the Premier League title but they have had a terrific campaign so far, winning 23 of their 33 top-flight games.
As for the Red Devils, they haven't done too bad either. United sit fourth, having already accumulated more points than last season with 60 from 31 matches. Ten Hag's side could claim their second trophy of the campaign when they face Manchester City in the FA Cup final next month.
United's Football Director, John Murtough, told the club's website : "Manchester United versus Arsenal is one the most famous and anticipated fixtures in the English football calendar and supporters from both clubs understand how big the rivalry between the two sides is.
"It’s great to be able to bring this match to New York and play in front of what I am sure will be a sell-out crowd. I know Erik and the squad are looking forward to starting their pre-season preparations in New York and utilising the great sporting facilities available to us in the city.
"The last time United played in New York was in 2011, so we are excited to be returning after such a long wait. There is no better location to kick start the Club’s Tour 23."
Arsenal s porting director Edu said : "The plans for pre-season are making good progress, with the match against Manchester United in New York being another important part of our preparations.
"Playing against strong opposition in a great stadium in front of so many of our supporters in New York will provide Mikel and the squad with a strong test and great experience ahead of the new season.
"We've now announced two matches in the US in July and look forward to announcing further details of our pre-season soon."
After the game against Wrexham in San Diego on July 25, United will travel to Las Vegas to face Borussia Dortmund, with the remainder of their US tour set to announced in due course. As for Arsenal, the Gunners will face a MLS All-Stars XI on July 19.
