Man Utd sent Nottingham Forest message as Liverpool plea made

Nottingham Forest fans have been reacting to Manchester United’s win over Leeds United, with eyes on the battle at the bottom half of the Premier League table.

Forest fell to a disappointing 2-0 loss against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Saturday afternoon, ending a run of five games unbeaten in the Premier League. Goals from Willian and Manor Solomon condemned the Reds to defeat.

The result, along with Leicester City’s win over Tottenham, saw Steve Cooper ’s men fall a place to 13th in the table. It also meant eyes turned to one particular game on Sunday as supporters glance anxiously over their shoulders.

Leeds United, who remain 17th and five points behind Forest, hosted Manchester United at Elland Road on Sunday, almost a week after parting company with head coach Jesse Marsch. It took until the 80th minute for United to make the breakthrough, with Marcus Rashford continuing his fine goalscoring form.

The Red Devils made sure of the result five minutes later when Alejandro Garnacho doubled their lead. The result was much to the delight of Forest fans.

Eyes now turn to 18th place Everton, who are six points adrift of Forest. They are in action on Monday (8pm kick-off) when they take on Liverpool in the Merseyside Derby.

Taking to social media on Sunday, there is no doubt about the results Forest fans are hoping for in both games. Here’s what some of them had to say...

Trevor Smith : Thank you Manchester United #NFFC We just need Liverpool to beat Everton tomorrow night to lessen the damage of yesterday’s result #NFFC

Paul Severn : It feels odd wanting United and Liverpool to win, but that result was big for #nffc to limit the damage of yesterday. Unfortunate that United had both first choice CMs and CBs available for the semis. They are very reliant on Rashford, who has matured into a tremendous player.

Hannah Forest : Well done, Man United beating Leeds. Really thought they'd lose that one. #nffc

Andrew : People saying Forest are in trouble and, its true, we still have lots of work to do. But I'd rather be in Forest's shoes than Everton's or Leeds's. #NFFC

Stu : Yes Utd! Was expecting Leeds to nick this one.

Craig : Liverpool win tomorrow and this weekend hasn't turned out too bad.
