Manchester United's transfer move for Barcelona playmaker Frenkie de Jong is reportedly "in the home straight".
The Red Devils have made the Dutchman their number one transfer target this summer following the arrival of his former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag, who is desperate to reunite with the midfielder at Old Trafford. And reports coming out of Spain now suggest the deal is edging closer to completion, with United now thought to be "confident" of finalising the deal next week.
It comes as one of the key reasons Ten Hag wants De Jong has become clear as the United boss looks to rebuild his squad and get the club challenging for silverware once again. And Manchester United fans are planning a protest at Ten Hag's first home game in charge.
