Incoming Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is set to move to plan B as the club identify a fresh defensive target ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Dutchman is set to take the reins at Old Trafford this summer ready to undertake a dramatic overhaul of the club's playing squad to help get United back among Europe's elite. Ndicka targeted
Manchester United are said to be 'tracking' Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka to give Erik ten Hag the defensive reinforcement he desires.
United's backline has struggled this season and Ten Hag is believed to want to bring in new options at centre-back, while keeping a lookout for new full-backs on both sides as well. And having reportedly given up on reuniting with former Ajax defender Matthis de Ligt, United could try to sign Evan Ndicka.
The Frenchman was an integral part of the Europa League winners' side this season and is now reportedly being courted by clubs from across Europe. He will enter the final year of his contract this summer and United could swoop to add him to Ten Hag's squad ahead of next season.
Bailly's options emerge
Manchester United defender Eric Bailly's representatives are reportedly in contact with several clubs, including Marseille and Lyon from Ligue 1.
The defender is said to have told Red Devils officials of his intention to leave the club this summer, with his team now working out an Old Trafford exit strategy. There is also thought to be interest in the defender from other French sides as well, while there are also said to be clubs in Spain that are exploring a move.
And the defender could now seal his departure from United in the coming weeks after failing to make himself a first-team regular following his £30million move from Villarreal in 2016.
Ten Hag's target revealed
Eric ten Hag has revealed the target for his first season in charge of Manchester United.
Ten Hag is set to take over following United's worst season ever in the Premier League, but despite the club's struggles the Dutchman says it is a "must" for his new side to qualify for the Champions League. It's bound to take plenty of work, however, with United having little to cheer about this season.
One of the few highlights has been Cristiano Ronaldo's form, with Ten Hag adding that he "can't wait to work with him".
