Manchester United have been urged to ignore the advice of Gary Neville and their current players in the search for a new manager.
The Red Devils will finally appoint a permanent successor to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the summer having been led by interim boss Ralf Rangnick since the Norwegian's exit. The long search for a long-term manager appears to be a straight shoot-out between Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag.
Neville has frequently weighed in with his thoughts as to who should get the job, with Pochettino being his favoured candidate. The former England international won eight Premier League titles for United during a 19-year senior career at Old Trafford.
But former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan has rubbished Neville's expertise. And he has encouraged United to overlook their legendary captain when they come to decide who should take over the reigns from Rangnick.
"Good advice is something you can never have too much of. But sometimes, you have to make a decision based off what you know to be the case, rather than other people parroting in your ear about half the facts they know," Jordan told talkSPORT.
"Gary Neville doesn't know all the facts. Gary Neville didn't get a memo sent to him saying 'you know everything, listen to me'. There's a backdrop to understanding Manchester United 20 years ago and there's a backdrop to understanding the antidote to Manchester United's problems now."

There have also been reports that some within the United dressing room have expressed doubts about the suitability of the candidates for the manager's job. But Jordan believes they should also be ignored as he branded the players "half the problem" with the Red Devils.
"I think a decision has to be made. I couldn't care less what the nincompoops inside the dressing room think. They are half the problem, so I certainly wouldn't be canvassing their opinions. Whoever they liked would be the last person I picked. Whoever they wanted would be surplus to requirements in terms of understanding what was right for Man United," he added.
"If you understand what is right for Manchester United, and I doubt the current regime does, it does then lend itself to 'who does know? Who is the person to bring in the person who brings back success on the pitch?'.
"You wonder if it's Richard Arnold. You wonder if there's someone who can bridge the gap between what Manchester United once was when it knew how to win to what Manchester United now is that doesn't have a clue how to win."
United are currently locked in a battle to secure a Champions League qualification place for next season. They sit three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham, with Arsenal and West Ham also ahead of them in the Premier League table.
Rangnick has just eight games remaining at the helm, having overseen exits in the FA Cup and Champions League since he took over. Ten Hag is already thought to have held talks with United as their appointment process steps up.
