Alejandro Garnacho joined the legions of Manchester United fans celebrating Real Madrid’s win over Liverpool in the Champions League final at the weekend.
United fans were relieved to see Liverpool fall short in their attempts to win an unprecedented quadruple this season. Had Jurgen Klopp’s side achieved the feat, it would have seen them go one better than United’s historic treble in 1999 when they won the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.
Liverpool though were denied the Premier League crown on the final day as Manchester City staged a remarkable comeback to beat Aston Villa and secured another title. And their hopes of a treble were ended on Saturday as they were beaten by Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Paris.

United fans have since revelled in their rivals’ disappointment, although the club’s players have stayed rather more silent. Some of the Reds’ youngsters though have been celebrating Real’s victory, including Garnacho.
Despite his links to Real’s city rivals, having started out with Atletico before making the move to Old Trafford, the 17-year-old celebrated Los Blancos’ victory on Saturday. The young forward posted a picture of Vinicius Jr holding aloft the Champions League trophy to his Instagram story.
Garnacho wasn’t the only United youngster to congratulate Real on their win. Noam Emeran sent a message to his fellow countryman Eduardo Camavinga as the young Frenchman celebrated winning his first European crown.
Despite their own connections to Real, Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane didn’t join in with the messages to congratulate their former team-mates. The pair will be gearing up for Erik ten Hag’s arrival as United boss this summer, although there is speculation over Ronaldo’s future at Old Trafford.
