Man United injury update: Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof and Raphael Varane latest news and return dates

Manchester United suffered a fresh injury problem for Lisandro Martinez on the weekend.

The Red Devils go into the international break with nine major issues for the physios to deal with, after Victor Lindelof also went off during Sunday’s defeat to Arsenal.

Raphael Varane, Mason Mount and Luke Shaw were ruled out ahead of the game, while Scott McTominay was also absent.

They are joined by Tyrell Malacia, Amad Diallo and Kobbie Mainoo in the treatment room.

Here is your latest update of Man Utd injury news and return dates...

Lisandro Martinez

Erik ten Hag revealed centre-back Martinez was forced off with a foot problem 67 minutes into Sunday’s defeat, which saw him replaced by Harry Maguire.

The United boss noted that he “wasn’t sure” if his player had actually suffered an injury but he is now a doubt for Argentina’s World Cup qualifiers this month along with the Red Devils’ return to action against Brighton.

“We have to wait, we have to see, we have to make the diagnosis,” Ten Hag said.

Victor Lindelof

Lindelof was also a surprise departee in the latter stages at the Emirates as Jonny Evans made his second United debut off the bench.

Ten Hag explained that the Swede was “ill”, prompting his substitution, and it remains to be seen if it will affect his involvement in his country’s Euros qualifiers against Estonia and Austria.

Raphael Varane

United confirmed Varane will be out for “a few weeks” after coming off in the win over Nottingham Forest.

The nature of his issue has not been confirmed but he is also a doubt for after the international break. Some reports have indicated a six-week lay-off for the Frenchman.

Scott McTominay

McTominay was absent from the squad that lost to Arsenal due to illness, Ten Hag confirmed on Sunday.

The midfielder had featured off the bench twice earlier in the season and is still likely to meet up with the Scotland squad for games with Cyprus and England.

Luke Shaw

The club first suggested Shaw will be out for “a number of weeks” with a muscle injury.

However reports claim that Shaw’s issue could be more serious than that and a return before October is unlikely - with a possible timeframe of ten weeks before he plays again.

Mason Mount

United have confirmed that Mount would be out until after the international break due to a “small complaint”.

No details on the nature of the injury have been given, though it has been reported that Mount could miss between four and six weeks after picking up the issue against Tottenham. Therefore, he remains a doubt to face Brighton on September 16.

Tyrell Malacia

Malacia missed the pre-season tour to the USA with an injury and is yet to feature in the Premier League this season.

Ten Hag revealed Malacia will be unavailable for “a few weeks” with the unspecified issue, with the left-back set to be unavailable until after the international break at the very least.

Kobbie Mainoo

Mainoo missed the start of the campaign after suffering an ankle injury against Real Madrid in pre-season. Ten Hag revealed the teenager could be in contention again by the start of November, if not sooner.

“At this moment, he’s not available but I think he will also, in say one, two months,” Ten Hag said. “Not in one month, but in two months, he will be available.”

Amad Diallo

Diallo picked up a knee injury against Arsenal in the USA.

The club confirmed Diallo would miss the “first part” of the season, with no update on his recovery provided since.
