Man United chief Richard Arnold discusses Frenkie de Jong transfer in leaked video

Manchester United chief executive Richard Arnold has been filmed discussing with fans a deal to sign Frenkie de Jong.

Arnold met a group of United protesters at his local pub in Chesire after they attempted to protest against the club outside his home. He spoke openly across several topics with fans, though it is unclear if he knew he was being filmed.

United have been locked in talks with Barcelona over De Jong to as yet little avail as rival clubs make significant upgrades to their squads, with Manchester City signing Erling Haaland as Liverpool bought Darwin Nunez.

Arnold said United are doing "everything possible" to sign De Jong, adding that "money is not a consideration", which will likely be music his Barcelona counterparts’ ears.

"Money is not a consideration on who we want," Arnold said in a video posted to Twitter by user @MufcWonItAll. "The manager wants him (De Jong) and they have actually done the work on looking at him... he's a great player.

"Is it £100m or £200m? I don't know. Get who you f***ing want." Asked if the deal would be dead if it reaches £200m, Arnold replies: "Do you want me buying the players? Does that not ring a bell?"

The same Twitter user then quoted Arnold as saying club staff are working around the clock to sign De Jong but there remain issues to resolve.

He said: "As a club we're doing everything possible to get the deal done, I've been up for days trying to get it done, the money is there but there's things standing in our way which I can't say.

He then reportedly added: "Look we're doing everything we can to get De Jong and I'm telling you the money is there for him.

"United officials are in Barcelona getting the deal done for De Jong ... everyone is working all day and all night to get it over the line, I haven't slept in the last few days."
