Man United and Erik Ten Hag to receive Chelsea transfer treatment as Barcelona plan next hijack

It was a largely successful first transfer window for Todd Boehly at Chelsea, with the Blues contributing to a fair portion of the Premier League's record-breaking spending spree. Chelsea spent over £270 million as the likes of Wesley Fofana, Marc Cucurella and Raheem Sterling arrived at Stamford Bridge.

However, it wasn't a transfer window without its frustrations, with the Blues pipped to a number of targets from their rivals across Europe. In particular, Barcelona became a thorn in Chelsea's side. La Liga giants also spent heavily this summer, managing to attract Raphinha and Jules Kounde to the club - both players who Chelsea were interested in.

football.london understands that Chelsea saw a bid of around £65 million accepted by Leeds United for Raphinha, but the player was keen to join Barcelona. Meanwhile, Kounde was linked with a move to Stamford Bridge all summer, but he chose Barca. Andreas Christensen also joined Barcelona, leaving Chelsea after his contract had expired.

Now Manchester United could be set the receive the same treatment that Chelsea did on multiple occasions this summer. According to Spanish publication Sport, Barcelona could beat the Red Devils to the signing of Monaco right-back Vanderson.

Erik ten Hag's side have been heavily linked with a move for the 21-year-old, but those at the Nou Camp consider Vanderson as the long-term solution to their problems at right-back. It's also understood that ten Hag is keen to upgrade in that area of the pitch in January.
