A man grabbed a woman and tried to push her into the path of an oncoming train at Leicester Square station in an incident police are treating as attempted murder.
The attack happened around 3.30pm last Monday (November 6).
The victim was waiting on a platform at the central London Underground station when she saw the suspect arguing with an elderly man.
The suspect then approached her, grabbed her arm, and began dragging her. She briefly managed to escape, British Transport Police said.
As a train approached, the suspect again grabbed the victim’s arm and began pushing her towards the tracks.
Two other passengers intervened and pulled the woman away from the man. The suspect is then reported to have boarded the train.
An attempted murder investigation is now underway.
"The suspect is described as a male believed to be in his late 20s with a muscular build, wearing a beige scarf over his head and a short puffer jacket," said a British Transport Police spokesperson on Thursday evening.
"If you were one of the people who intervened, or someone who witnessed the incident, please contact British Transport Police as soon as possible."
