A man was taken to hospital with a head injury following an assault in the Holyland area.
Police received reports that at around 1.05am on Wednesday, February 2, a man in his 20s had been assaulted in the Botanic area of South Belfast.
It is understood that he was attacked on Rugby Road and hit in the temple, resulting in a serious head injury.
The victim was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment.
A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police are investigating a report of an assault in the Botanic area of South Belfast on Wednesday, 2nd February.
"It was reported to police just after 1.05am that a man in his 20s had suffered a head injury and was taken to hospital for treatment.
"Enquiries are ongoing and police would appeal to anyone with any information in relation to the incident to contact 101 quoting reference number 59 of 02/02/22.
