Man taken to hospital after collapse and 'medical emergency' in Fenham

A man was taken to hospital on Thursday evening after collapsing in Cedar Road, Fenham.

The unnamed man is understood to have collapsed. Both the police and the ambulance service attended the scene - thought to be near the Beauty and the Best nail salon, although there is no indication of any connection with the shop.. The incident happened shortly after 6.10pm.

The man in question was taken to the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly after 6.10pm yesterday police received a report via the ambulance service of a medical emergency on Cedar Road in Fenham, Newcastle. Emergency services attended where it was reported that a man had collapsed. He was taken to hospital for treatment."

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We received a call at 6.05pm last night to reports of a medical incident on Cedar Road, Fenham. We dispatched two ambulance crews and a clinical team leader.

"One patient was taken to the Freeman Hospital for further treatment." On Friday morning the scene was deserted.
