A man was taken to hospital after being attacked in Piccadilly Gardens in the early hours of this morning.
Officers were first called to reports of an assault in the city centre at around 3am. The victim was taken to hospital from the scene, police said.
His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. A cordon was put in place around an area of the gardens this morning, between the bus station and the main grass area.

Officers were stationed at the scene as investigations were carried out. In a statement, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "Police were called to Piccadilly Gardens at around 03.00am on Tuesday 6 September 2022, to reports of a male who had been assaulted.
"NWAS attended and the victim was taken to hospital for treatment on his injuries, which are not thought to be life-threatening. A scene is currently in place and enquiries are ongoing."
