A man has been left with 'potentially life-changing injuries' to his eye after he was assaulted in County Durham.
The man was assaulted as he walked home, leaving him with significant facial injuries. It happened on the A692 Consett Road, Castleside, between the junction of Taylor Terrace and Tesco Extra, in the early hours of Sunday, August 21.
Officers have since confirmed that he was taken to hospital for surgery on potentially life-changing injuries to his eye. Durham Constabulary is now appealing for witnesses or is asking anyone who has dashcam footage of the incident to get in touch.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted as he walked home, leaving him with significant facial injuries.
"The incident happened on the A692 Consett Road, Castleside, between the junction of Taylor Terrace and Tesco Extra, in the early hours of Sunday, August 21. The man was taken to hospital for surgery on potentially life-changing injuries to his eye.
"Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or was travelling in the area at the time and has dashcam is asked to contact DC Lindsey Hill, of Stanley CID, via lindsey.hill@durham.police.uk"
