Man shoots woman and accidentally kills himself with same bullet, police say

A man shot a woman in the neck only to kill himself with the same bullet, police have said.

Byron Redmon shot a woman in the neck but the bullet ended up striking him in the leg and killing him, in a case that has left many baffled.

The gun was fired Saturday morning at roughly 11.30am local time and officers responding to reports were confused to find large amounts of blood, but no victims, in front of an apartment.

Then, only a short while later, officers from the Dallas Police Department were contacted by a local hospital.

They informed them of a man and a woman who both had gunshot wounds and were found in a vehicle and rushed to hospital.

The 26-year-old Redmon is believed to have shot the woman in the neck and the bullet somehow exited her neck and hit his leg, WFAA reported.

Redmon died in hospital while the woman was treated and released on the very same day, the TV station reported.

In a statement, Dallas Police Department said: “On July 30, 2022, at approximately 11:39 am, Dallas Police responded to a shooting call in the 2200 block of Medical District.

“When officers arrived they could see a large amount of blood and a blood trail in front of an apartment. No one was located inside the apartment.

“At the same time, a call came in at a nearby hospital of a male and a female found outside in a vehicle, with gunshot wounds.

“The preliminary investigation determined at the apartment, the male, Byron Redmon, 26, shot the adult female victim in the neck during a domestic disturbance. The bullet then exited and hit Redmon in the leg. Redmon died at the hospital.

“The investigation is ongoing and the case is documented under case number 137373-2022.”
