A man has been arrested after a body was found in the stairwell of an apartment complex in Melbourne's east.
Police were called to reports of an assault in the foyer of the Young Street building in Box Hill at 7.45pm on Saturday.
One man was found dead in the stairwell, while another man was found nearby with minor facial injuries.
A 42-year-old Box Hill man was arrested at the complex and taken to hospital under police guard.
Homicide squad detectives have launched an investigation and are still working to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police believe the parties were known to each other.
Anyone with information about what happened or relevant footage has been asked to come forward.
