A man in his 20s has been rushed to hospital following a 'knife fight' in Manchester city centre. Police were called out to Piccadilly Gardens at 12.35am this morning (September 24).
Greater Manchester Police says it received a call about 'men fighting possibly involving a knife' in the area. The force says it searched the area after receiving the call but officers did not find a knife.
An eyewitness told the Manchester Evening News : "There were maybe three guys with knives out running past me that I saw." They added: "Cops turned up but all the guys had scarpered."
Police say no arrests have been made so far and enquiries are ongoing. A GMP spokesperson said: "We were called at 12.35am today (September 24) to a report of men fighting possibly involving a knife near Piccadilly Gardens, Manchester.
"A man in his 20s was injured and taken to hospital. No knife was found and no arrests have been made so far.
"Enquiries are ongoing and any information or footage should be passed to us via LiveChat or 101 quoting incident 104 of September 24, 2022. Details can be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111."
