A man has been rushed to hospital after an alleged early-morning blade attack near a park in Edinburgh.
Police officers raced to the scene on Moredun Park Road in the Craigour area of the capital at around 5.50am today.
A 22-year-old man was injured in the alleged incident and rushed to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment. His current condition is unknown.
It is understood to have been an alleged stabbing.
Cops confirmed this afternoon that a 61-year-old man has been arrested in connection and police enquiries remain ongoing.
Local residents reported seeing multiple officers patrolling the area throughout the morning, Edinburgh Live reports.
This included Fernieside Drive and Craigour Drive, with several paths cordoned also off despite Moredun Park Road being accessible.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a 22-year-old man with injuries as a the result of an assault at Moredun Park Road in Edinburgh around 5.50am on Friday, June 17.
“The man has been taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.
“A 61-year-old man has been arrested and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
