Man rescued from carnage of Manchester Arena terror bombing inspired to become police officer

A man who was rescued from the carnage of the Manchester Arena terror bombing was inspired to become a police officer thanks to the heroic efforts of those who saved him.

Teaching assistant Josh Elliott was planning a career in the classroom until that fateful night when he and his friends escaped from the Ariana Grande concert in May 2017. Despite escaping physically unscathed, Josh's life changed forever as he decided in the moments after that he wanted to become a policeman.

Now five years on from that horrific night, the 27-year-old is now a response officer serving in Crook, protecting people in their hour of need. He recalled how officers "sprang to action" to save him and his friends and said he wanted to a "negative into a positive" by joining the police.
