A man has been slapped after proposing to his girlfriend with a lollipop ring at a baseball game.
On Sunday, one lucky girl thought she was about to become engaged to her boyfriend during the Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox Major League Baseball in front of thousands of spectators.
A video, which has gone viral with over 200,000 views, shows the fan stopping his girlfriend as she walks to her seat during the game.
He then carefully tugs his confused girlfriend near him and kisses her, while professing “I love you” in gushing scenes.
The fan soon begins to kneel down as the girlfriend, who knows what's about to come next, covers her mouth in disbelief.
With thousands of fans set to be part of the big moment forever, fans quickly whipped out their mobile phones and started filming the magical moment between the pair.
The official media team even ensured their cameras were on the couple in order for the fans to be able to watch on the big screens.
With the cameras in place the boyfriend then kneels on the stair case and pulls out a black box out of his left jean pocket.
The shocked girlfriend was now expecting a gorgeous, expensive engagement ring but to the bafflement of everyone in the stadium, he opened up the box to reveal a red lollipop ring pop.
Furious at the contents of the box, the woman slaps her boyfriend in horror.
She then swore at him and said “What the f**k is wrong with you?" as she launched her drink over the man.
It is unclear whether the marriage proposal was a prank or if it was real but it left social media users quickly divided.
Some believe the boyfriend was set to propose with a normal ring after his initial joke proposal.
The man appeared to have another smaller box in his left pocket which could have contained his actual engagement ring.
But social media users were split over whether he had any intention in proposing for real.
One Reddit user commented: "The guy pulled a jerk move. If he cannot be serious for something important imagine what type of clown he is day to day.”
Another said if that's how the relationship will look in the future he should move on.
A user said: "That’s an indication of how the rest of his life would go marrying her … move on dude.”
Hundreds of other users believe it was a "big relationship red flag" moment and she might have had a lucky escape.
However, some users were sympathetic to the boyfriend and claimed it was unfair to slap him across the face and pour her drink over him.
A user said: “I get that she didn’t like this, but it’s no reason to slap him across the face. Especially in front of thousands.”
