A man proposed to his partner under the clock in Glasgow Central Station in honour of where they first met. On Thursday, David Gouck asked boyfriend of one year Bihang Lui to become his husband in the place that holds a memorable place in their hearts.
David, 32, even learned how to speak Bihang's native language to make the proposal extra special.
David told Glasgow Live: "We met on Tinder and after that we talked for a long time. We then met up in Central Station because that is the place I thought it would be easiest for him to meet because he had only been in Scotland for one year.
"That's why I asked him to marry me in Central Station. His friends, who have now become my friends, helped me learn how to say what I wanted to say in Chinese which was a lot of work.
"There was a famous romantic Chinese song playing on the piano, I didn't organise that, but fate looks down on you sometimes."
Bihang said it was the perfect spot for the proposal. He said: "He told me people always kiss under the clock in Central Station. So every time we pass the clock we kiss. It was a very special place for us, it wasn't just the first place we met.
"The first time we met he was really perfect, he had no bad side. It made me nervous because I always believed people aren't perfect. But as I got to know him I fell in love with him."
David told how he planned the romantic proposal for weeks, but said it almosr went wrong before they even left the house.
He explained: "I was sure that I had been rumbled. I was making arrangements for everything, so I put the ring box in my jacket and Bihang moved my jacket and it fell out. So I distracted him and swapped the ring box for my wallet."
David was delighted when Bihang said yes to the big question and agreed to become his fiancé. He said: "It was so stressful trying to figure everything out and get it to be the way I wanted it to be.
"I think I caught him off guard and I'm quite proud of that. There's a different feeling now, I feel our relationship has taken another step forward. I've always loved him but now there is a deeper connection."
David said he could have asked 26-year-old Bihang to marry him somewhere fancier, but he wanted the setting to special to them.
He explained: "I could have asked him to marry him in a fancier place than Central Station but it takes us back to where we began. I thought it was a special thing because we met under the clock and now we got engaged under the clock. The workers at Central were really nice and helpful as well."
Bihang had given up on love in Scotland and was looking to return home. However, the encounter with his future husband changed his life forever.
The 26-year-old said: "Before I met David I completely lost hope about love because I had been in so many failed relationships. I wanted to leave this country and I had already bought a ticket back to China. I had been really disappointed from the relationship side of things here.
"The day after I bought the ticket I met David and everything changed. The ticket was cancelled after I met David. It was like fate."
