Man moves Madhya Pradesh HC seeking release of wife, daughter held captive

BHOPAL/JABALPUR: A person employed in Dubai has filed a habeas corpus petition in the MP high court accusing the brother of his father-in-law of detaining his wife and daughter and holding them hostage.

A Muslim youth employed in Dubai in his habeas corpus petition said that he belongs to Jabalpur and had left for Dubai after he got a job there before the lockdown. He had left his wife and six-year-old daughter with his father in-law who remains ill. Till January 2022, he used to talk to his wife and daughter regularly over phone but then, it stopped.

When he tried to find out why his wife had stopped talking to him, it was revealed that his wife and daughter were being held hostage by the brother of his father-in-law. He doesn't allow his wife to talk to her father and mother either. He, then, returned to Jabalpur and lodged a complaint at Omti police station, but the police didn't even register a case on his complaint.
