A man has been jailed after threatening several staff members at a Bestwood Co-op where he stole pork chops and fabric softener. Corey Fawsitt, 20, of no fixed address, told one member of staff that he would "bash her face in" after stealing pork chops from the Co-op store on Beckhampton Road.
The first incident happened on October 26 and he returned later that day to steal bottles of fabric softener. He then returned again the next day and was challenged by a member of staff after filling a bag with meat.
A struggle ensued where staff managed to retrieve the bag of meat and to get Fawsitt to leave the shop. But he returned to kick a staff member's hand and then threatened to "smash his face in".

Fawsitt repeated the threat to two workers and was verbally abusive when asked to leave the store on October 28. Nottinghamshire Police now says that Fawsitt has been jailed for three months and has been made the subject of a 12-month criminal behaviour order, banning him from entering the store.
It followed a hearing at Mansfield Magistrates' Court on Thursday (February 2), where he plead guilty to three charges of theft, three counts of using threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behaviour and a further charge of common assault. Inspector Paul Ferguson, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "Fawsitt has shown a total lack of regard for the harm he has caused to the shop staff and wider community.
"He is a prolific offender who has been abusive and threatening towards staff, placing them in fear. He has chosen not to change his ways by repeatedly committing shop thefts and showing a complete lack of respect for the law. Behaviour like his will not be tolerated and the robust action we have taken in this case should act as a warning to others that we will do everything within our powers to ensure our communities remain safe and enjoyable places to be."
