Man in hospital after motorbike and car smash

A man was taken to hospital after his motorbike was involved in a crash with a van.

Witnesses reported seeing a large police presence on Tollemache road, Claughton after a crash involving a motorbike and a Mitsubishi van. The man was taken to hospital with multiple injuries following the incident.

Around eight police vehicles attended the incident, which happened at around 5.55pm on Thursday, January 5. People who live in the area also reported seeing the road cordoned off between the junctions of Upper Flaybrick Road and Bidston Avenue.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We were contacted at 5.55pm last night (Thursday) to reports of a collision between a motorbike and a Mitsubishi Trojan on Tollemache Road. The male rider of the bike was taken to hospital with an arm and leg injury.

"The driver of the Mitsubishi stopped at the scene and is assisting with enquiries. An investigation into the collision is ongoing."
