A man has died after suffering a medical episode in Newsham Park on Monday morning.

Emergency services rushed to Newsham Park in Old Swan after they received a report a man had suffered a medical episode in the park. Officers from Merseyside Police and staff from North West Ambulance Service attended the park at around 8.20am.

One eyewitness described seeing a number of emergency service vehicles entering the park, at the Lister Drive entrance, shortly before 8.30am. Images taken in the park this morning showed a police cordon in place next to the fishing lake.

A Merseyside Police van and a small number of officers were still at the scene. Enquiries are now ongoing to notify the man's next of kin and the coroner will be informed.

At this stage his death is not being treated as suspicious.
