Man imprisoned woman in his house and threatened to shoot himself if she left

A controlling man imprisoned a woman inside his home by pointing an imitation firearm at his head and threatening to kill himself. He tried to physically restrain her and assaulted her friend who had come to pick her up.

Kerryn Everett, 31, tried to force his victim to stay in his Cardiff home after she told him she wanted to leave. He chased her down the street and told her he "loved her" before trying to drag her screaming back into the house.

A sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court heard Everett and his victim met through work and had met with each other three times with her spending the night at his house on one occasion. On July 24 the victim arranged to stay at the defendant's home in Cosmeston Street, Cathays, after a night out with her friends in the city centre.
