Man hospitalised after being struck by car in Lucan

Gardai are urging witnesses to come forward after a man was struck by a car in the Lucan area.

Two separate incidents, which both involved a black Opel Astra, took place in the vicinity on Monday morning. A male was allegedly driving the vehicle on the Lucan Road at around 7.35 am, before he vacated his car and went over to the vehicle behind him.

The man proceeded to hop on the bonnet of the other car and kick in its windscreen, causing considerable damage. No injuries resulted from the first incident.

However, a black Opel Astra became involved minutes later in an encounter with a second car. A driver approached the Opel Astra on foot after both vehicles stopped at traffic lights near Weir Bridge in Lucan.

The male driver was then struck by the Opel Astra numerous times. The man was taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital for medical treatment, although his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Gardai are appealing for people who witnessed either incident to come forward. They are also on the look out for dash cam footage of either incident to be made available to them.

It is believed the black Opel Astra had fully black wheels and had silver chrome on the boot. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Lucan Garda Station on 01 666 7300, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
