Man gets 8-year jail term in POCSO case

The District Additional Session Court (One) on Wednesday sentenced a 67-year-old man to eight-year imprisonment in connection with a case filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in Kasaragod. 

H. Anand, a resident within the Bedakam police limits, was convicted for attempting to rape a 14-year-old girl at her house. Judge A.V. Unnikrishnan also imposed a fine of ₹75,000 on the accused. The incident took place on June 6, 2018, when the accused broke into the house of the victim around 2 p.m. and attempted to rape her.

Bedakam Sub Inspector T. Damodaran submitted the charge sheet before the court. Special Prosecutor Prakash Ammannaya appeared for the prosecution.
