A young man is fighting for his life in hospital after two men were stabbed on Sunday night.

Photos from the scene on the Isle of Dogs show police tape around a silver Mercedes saloon car. Paramedic equipment is scattered on the ground.

Metropolitan Police officers were called at 11.45pm on Sunday.

A 23-year-old man was found with stab injuries and taken to hospital. Police say he is in a life-threatening condition.

One witness said he saw a policeman trying to save the life of a man lying stricken on the ground.

A crime scene remains in place.

A local resident who lives next to the scene told MyLondon: “Our neighbour saw the whole thing, and he said they were running with machetes.”

The resident added: “We usually don’t have too much of an issue with a crime around here, but it has been getting worse.”

A spokesman for Scotland Yard said: “A 23-year-old man was found with stab injuries and was taken to hospital; he remains in a life threatening condition.

“While at the location officers found a second man with stab injuries on Limeharbour, E14. He was also taken to hospital and we await an update on his condition.

“A crime scene remains in place and enquiries are ongoing. No arrests.

Anyone with any information should call police on 101 and give reference 7721/28Aug.”
