A 65-year-old man has been arrested and charged after heroin worth over £100,000 was seized.
Following a tip off, police stopped a Ford car on the M8 near Harthill and recovered the quantity of drugs last Thursday (May 12).
The man was expected to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court, with a report due to be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.
Detective Inspector Laura Sands told Lanarkshire Live : “This was a significant drugs recovery that has taken £102,000 worth of drugs off the streets of Scotland.
“Serious and organised crime brings misery to those living in our local communities and I want to reassure the public that we will continue to use every resource and tactic at our disposal to disrupt this kind of activity and stop these illegal substances reaching our streets.
