Man dies in West Country crash after car found hours later by passing ambulance

A driver has died after his car crashed off a busy A road - and was found by a passing ambulance the following day. Emergency crews were called to reports of a single vehicle collision on the A37 at Wraxall near Shepton Mallet at 5.30am yesterday (May 28)

However officers believe the accident happened at around 10.30pm the previous day (May 27) but the vehicle was only discovered by a passing ambulance several hours later. The driver, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene and his next-of-kin has been informed.

The A37 was closed for several hours as emergency services responded to the collision and police officers investigated its circumstances. Police officers are keen to speak to anyone who drove in the area between 10.30pm on Saturday evening and 5.30am on Sunday.
