A man, thought to be in his 30s, has died after falling from a major bridge in south west London.
The man, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, fell from Richmond Bridge on Thursday evening.
Police were called to the scene at 7.18pm by paramedics to reports of a man falling from height from the bridge.
Despite the efforts of the emergency services, his life could not be saved and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers said they were treating the incident as “unexpected, though initial enquiries suggest it is not suspicious”.
Police are working to inform the man’s next of kin.
The bridge was closed in both directions as officers responded to the scene.
The bridge is a major artery connecting Richmond to Twickenham.
