A young man has died after being stabbed on the dance floor of a night club in Birmingham on Boxing Day.
The 23-year-old victim was enjoying a night out with his friends at The Crane in Digbeth when he was attacked.
West Midlands Police have launched a murder investigation. No arrests have been made over the incident.
Emergency services were called to the club at 11:45pm but the victim was pronounced dead around 30 minutes later, the Mirror reports.
His family have now been informed and will receive support from specialist officers. Officers are urging anyone who was in the area at the time or holding any information regarding the stabbing to get in touch as they review CCTV taken from the nightclub yesterday evening.
Det Insp Michelle Thurgood, leading the investigation, said: “This was a young man enjoying himself with friends on a Boxing Day night out and our thoughts are with his friends and family today. We know there were hundreds of people in the nightclub at the time.
"While we’ve spoken to a number of them already, we still need to hear from anyone who was there and who witnessed or even filmed what happened. We believe that the victim was approached by a group of people, and was then stabbed, so we’re working hard to identify all of those involved.”
The scene was closed off today while police gather evidence and neighbourhood officers have been brought in to guard the area over the next few days to provide reassurance. Anyone with information has been asked to get in touch via Live Chat, quoting log 3792 of 26 December.
