Man dies after being 'hit by car' in second serious Isle of Skye crash in three days

A man has died after being hit by a car on the Isle of Skye.

The horror crash happened around 10.10pm on Saturday on the A851 Kilbeg road.

A Honda Jazz and a pedestrian were involved in the incident.

Tragically, the 33-year-old male pedestrian died at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed.

Formal identification is still to take place.

Cops are currently carrying out inquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision.

They are also appealing to anyone with any information on what happened to come forward.

Police Sergeant Ewan Calder of the Road Policing Unit said: “Our inquiries are continuing to understand the full circumstances of what happened.

"Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the pedestrian.

“I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have dash-cam footage to contact us as soon as possible.

“Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 4161 of 26 March, 2022.”

This marks the second serious road crash in the past three days.

on Thursday, a 27-year-old driver was seriously injured when a blue Suzuki Swift careered off the A87 at Varigill, south of Portree just after 1.30pm on Thursday.

He was rushed to Raigmore Hospital for treatment.

Mercy crews closed the round for six hours while police launched a probe into what caused the crash.
